Australian schools were invited to get involved in National Reading Day, 3rd September 2008.

National Reading Day is a key event celebrating National Literacy and Numeracy Week.

Excellent teaching resources, fantastic networking opportunities and great prizes were available to schools who shared their answers to the 2008 National Reading Day question: What are you reading today?

Although National Reading Day 2008 has now passed, you are still welcome to use the teaching materials and activity ideas which are available on this website.

Schools that participated in National Reading Day activities and completed a survey about their involvement were in the running to win one of two libraries of 500 books, valued at $7000 each from Scholastic Australia or one of 5 packs of 10 electronic Macquarie School Dictionaries valued at approximately $1000 per pack from Franklin Electronic Publishers.
